Most golfers, regardless of the level of experience have a hard time repeating the same shot over and over. Because the golf swing is a dynamic motion, any slight variation will change the outcome immensely. There are many things that go into a good consistent, straight golf shot but one of the most important keys to improving your game is ensuring the club face is square at impact (or perpendicular to the target). Product Background
I created the WrisTRAINER because I was having issues with consistency off the tee and I also began having pain in the leading wrist joint. After I visited one of the top hand and wrist institutes in the country, I was informed I had a Ganglion Cyst. The doctor told me that it was caused by hyper flexing of the wrist which caused the fluid sack to become herniated. This not only caused a lot of pain, it also impaired my wrists from comfortable movement.

I decided I needed to create a solution that would address the wrist motion while making it comfortable and convenient for all types of golfers to wear. After months analyzing the shape of the wrist and lower forearm and the ideal swing mechanics, I came to the conclusion that developing a device to be worn on the top or back side of the hand and forearm would be the most effective and comfortable. I also had to consider a one-size-fits-all design whereby no matter the size, shape or swing style (lefty or righty). I knew that the device would need to rigid enough to maintain a flat wrist at impact yet flexible enough to allow for the minimal movement of the wrist at the peak of the backswing and follow-through. Initially, I had a number of different materials molded to form the rigid core varying from flexible Polyurethane to a very stiff Polycarbonate. After assembly and testing of all materials, it was clear that the Polyethylene was the best option for its resilience and versatility. I then wanted to improve the comfort of the device and make it something any golfer would be willing to wear at the practice range or out on the course. I decided adding a thin layer of EVA foam to the underside that would not only protect the users hand but also allow for the wicking of sweat during usages. Lastly, I wanted the WrisTRAINER to be versatile enough that it could be worn in conjunction with any standard golf glove and therefore I added two straps that attach the device to the users’ wrist. The palm strap is made of woven elastic that can be adjusted to fit any size hand. The forearm strap is made of a woven nylon with Velcro adhesion to ensure comfort and adjustability is second to none.

Installation
When you receive your WrisTRAINER in the mail you will notice the craftsmanship of the device and the care and consideration we have taken to deliver the best possible product. Now it is time to put it to use….

Simply slide the leading wrist through the palm strap and adjust until a firm fit is achieved.

Next, with the wrist and forearm flat, wrap the forearm strap around the arm and attach using the Velcro. Make sure that you now have a snug fit with the device against the hand yet sufficient circulation is maintained.

NOTE: The WrisTRAINER has been designed to be worn comfortably under or over your existing golf glove. So you wont even notice it during you practice or gameplay. 

Usage
Now that you have the WrisTRAINER installed onto your wrist it is time to take some swings of the golf club. First thing you will do is grip the golf club in the same manner you as normal but, paying close attention to the lead wrist. As you can see in the following images, you will now be able to see the leading wrist, hand and arm are all in plane with one another. This is just what we want to see.

Address the golf ball just like you would before but now make sure that the leading wrist is flat and parallel to the clubface. As you begin your backswing, you will notice a sense of restraint on the leading wrist which will initially feel odd but, as you practice more and more this motion will become consistent and more relaxed. At the peak of the backswing, the WrisTRAINER will keep the wrists from “breaking” which often leads to the golf swing falling off plane. As you begin the downswing you will notice that the lead wrist is stiff and will feel as if the arm is one with the golf club. This is exactly what we are trying to accomplish. As the body rotates around towards the impact there will be sufficiently more club head speed as a result of this optimized pendulum motion. Once you make impact with the ball and begin the follow-through you notice the ball trajectory is on a much straighter path. This is again due to the club face staying square with the ball at impact. Finally, the follow-through will finish as the wrists begin to rotate over and the shoulders square towards the target.

While the WrisTRAINER is designed as a practice device, you may very well want to use it out on the course. Over time you will be reprogramming the body to function the same over and over again without the need for the device.
